1. Natural Curls with a Plaited Top Knot
Natural, softer curls are where it’s at, think boho, relaxed curls. One of our fave influencers Emily Rose Hannon has a really romantic take. We've taken this inspo and given it a little more structure with our plaited top knot.
In terms of hairstyles, braids are an undisputed favourite - there’s just so many ways to wear them and they can easily take an everyday hairstyle - like natural curls and dial it up a couple of notches.
This look is the perfect day-to-night style, think of it as your first port of call for date night, a music gig, or simply if you just have a girls day planned and are in need of a free and easy look.

How to Get the Look: Natural Curls Plaited Top Knot
1. Start with hair pre-curled on the Natural Curl setting using the Curl Secret Optimum then soften with fingers.
2. Take a halo section on top of the head and create a ponytail.
3. Split the pony into 3 sections and create 3 plaits.
4. Stretch each plait to create a fuller, softer plait.
5. Separate and position the plaits until you’ve achieved your desired shape and pin.
And that’s how you create a boho inspired plaited top knot!
2. Sophisticated Curls with a Half Up French Roll
Nothing oozes sophistication more than a french roll!
This all-up french roll is on-point but french rolls can feel a little on the stuffy side. We’ve made it more wearable for an everyday style by adding curls and a modern half up spin. Wear this look to the office, lunch with the girls, to a formal or a wedding.
TIP: To get this gorgeous curl use the Curl Secret Optimum on the pre-set Sophisticated Curl setting which is 200 degrees for 10 seconds. Wrap half into a french roll and pin!
Step-by-Step
How to Get the Look: Sophisticated Curls with a Half Up French Roll
1. Start with hair pre-curled on the Sophisticated Curl setting using the Curl Secret Optimum then soften with fingers.
2. Create a part from the right temple diagonally back to the left side of the crown and create a ponytail.
3. Sweep the left section back and backcomb two to three times for more fullness.
4. Wrap this section around the ponytail to create the French roll.
5. Use fingers to shape the roll.
6. Secure with bobby pins.
And that’s how you create a stunning curly, modern half up french roll!
3. Romantic Curls with a Plaited Side Ponytail
As soon as summer rolls around, it’s hard not to rock a ponytail daily. And why shouldn’t we? To start, it’s hot outside and a ponytail offers a two-second solution to getting our hair off our sweaty necks. However, there comes those occasions where we want a hairstyle that is practical but cute too and we have good news - This go-to style for post-workout brunch, time-starved mornings, and sweltering afternoons doesn’t have to signal defeat, enter: the plaited side ponytail.
This cute braided ponytail is romantic and flirty, making it a great choice for special occasions or you know those times when you want to look like you put the extra effort in. But don’t let this hairstyle fool you, it’s surprisingly quick and easy to do (it is still a ponytail after all) and add some cute hair accessories in the mix like a trio of barrettes or even a scrunchie and you have a look that is IG-feed worthy.

How to Get the Look: Romantic Curls Plaited Side Ponytail
1. Start with hair pre-curled on the Romantic Curl setting using the Curl Secret Optimum then soften with fingers.
2. Create a section from the part on the right to the top of your ear and clip away.
3. Leave out your desired amount of fringe and clip away.
4. Sweep the rest of the hair back into a side ponytail and secure with a hair tie.
5. Unclip the right section and create a plait, securing with a hair tie.
6. Separate the plait with your fingers to soften.
7. Pin into the ponytail.
8. Add a ponytail cuff or hair accessory for a really on trend finish.
9. Comb and style your fringe.
And that’s how you create a gorgeous soft plaited side ponytail with a romantic curls finish.
Remember These Tips To Help Make Your Curls Last Longer
1. Prep Is Everything
Nothing’s worse than starting a hairstyle with frizz, which is why it’s super important to go in with hair protectant spray before you curl your hair. This will not only give you a great foundation, but also help to hydrate, detangle and prevent frizz. Simply spritz a generous amount on damp strands, making sure to cover the hair from roots to tips.
2. Hairspray Is Your FriendThis may sound like an obvious one, but most of us aren’t using hairspray correctly when curling our hair! Instead of just applying hairspray at the end of curling, you should also apply it before, during and after curling which will help give your hair a rougher texture and prolong the lifespan of your curls.
Another tip is to not hold the hairspray too close to your hair as this will make your curls crunchy and heavy. You want to spray a light mist onto it and wait a few moments for it to dry prior to applying heat.3. Finish With A Texturizing Spray
If you want your curls to look more natural, then you can’t miss the final step of going in with a texturizing spray. Since a texturizing spray is lighter on your hair than hairspray you don’t have to use a ton of product for its effectiveness, going in with a light spritz will actually weigh your hair down less and allow the curls to stay bouncy for longer.
Texturizing spray is also great because it adds volume and can also act similarly to a dry shampoo by neutralizing the oils in your hair. You can still use hairspray before or throughout the curling process, but finishing with a texturizing spray will help hold the curls in place without dragging them down too much.
4. What To Do If Your Hair Just Won’t Curl
If your hair just won’t curl, this could be a sign that it’s screaming out for some TLC. Overly damaged hair (including split ends) doesn't curl and doesn't hold style well. Meaning, it’s time to give you hair some love by going in with a deep-conditioning hair mask every few days and booking in a trim with the hairdresser.
