The Autumn Hair Trends to Fall For in 2024

All our fave cuts, colours and styles for autumn

Autumn is officially here and if there’s one thing it brings along with cooler weather, it’s a whole bunch of new hair trends for the colder months. Whether you’ve been wanting to change your look for a while or you’re just wanting to know what’s in store in the hair world for the next few months, we’ve got you covered!

These are the cuts, colours and styles you’ll be seeing absolutely everywhere this autumn!

The hottest hair colours for autumn…

Scandi hairline

No doubt you’ve seen this one all over IG and TikTok, the Scandi hairline has been taking socials by storm in the lead up to autumn. This is the hair hack that will make you feel like it’s still summer thanks to its hair and face brightening effects!

The Scandi hairline technique involves lightening the baby hairs around your hair a shade or two lighter than the rest of your hair colour. It helps to give you a natural, sun-kissed, brightened appearance that will make you look like you just got back from a beachside holiday even as we venture deep into autumn!

Honey Blonde

In case you missed it, influencers and celebs everywhere have been ditching their platinum locks and opting for a more natural honey blonde instead. Natural, grown-out, honey blonde is the move for autumn, and it gets bonus points for being so much easier to maintain than platinum.

It’s rich, it’s creamy and it helps to make you look like you’re glowing even as the weather cools down. Move over ‘bronde’, honey blonde is the new IT girl hair colour!

Warm brown

As the weather cools down and autumn makes itself known, it may seem like everybody and their mum is wanting to dye their hair dark in the lead up to winter but it’s time to put down the chocolate brown box dye and opt for warmer brown hues instead.

Warm brown tones coupled with a few face-framing highlights will have you looking alive all autumn long and the best bit? This colour looks good on everyone!

Chunky Highlights

If you thought you got out of the 2000’s resurgence unscathed, we’ve got some news for you, it’s not just low-rise jeans and juicy couture tracksuits making a comeback – chunky highlights are back in a big way for autumn.

If you’re bored of balayage and you’re wanting to spice up your look, chunky highlights are the way to go. You don’t have to have quite as much contrast as you might remember Xtina rocking, but adding chunky honey blonde highlights to your brunette locks can really level up your look for Autumn.

The cuts you’ll be seeing EVERYWHERE

Blunt cuts

Blunt cuts are back in a big way, and it’s not just the blunt bob making a comeback – celebs everywhere are chopping their locks into medium-length cuts with blunt ends. Blunt haircuts are the move for autumn, not only do regular chops keep your ends sharp, it also helps to keep your hair healthy, shiny and add bounce!

Ditch the long layers and instead opt for a blunt chop that helps your hair appear fuller, more voluminous and so much healthier!

Box bob

It’s everything you know and love about a bob but with so much less maintenance! This relaxed take on the bob is so much easier to maintain, especially as the weather cools down for autumn.

The box bob is a softer, more grown-out version of the classic blunt bob but the box bob frames the face without harsh lines and helps to add volume, bounce and texture to your locks for autumn.

Side bangs

It's millennials time to shine with the resurgence of the side fringe. Whilst you may be thinking that side bangs are so 2010, we’re here to tell you they’re back and better than ever! Side bangs have had a grown-up glow up for autumn, perfect for adding sharp angles, elongating your jawline and adding some extra definition to those cheekbones.

The side swept bangs are back for autumn and it looks like they’re definitely here to stay.

Accessories, styles and so much more!

Hair embellishments

Hair embellishments are going to be everywhere this autumn, and the best news is that you can use hair embellishments to completely personalise your look. Whether you’re wanting to add loads of hair clips to your updos, braid velvet ribbons into your hair or even add glitter or golden flecks to the top of your buns, the world really is your oyster when it comes to hair embellishments for autumn.

You’ll be rocking a totally unique and personalised look all autumn long when you get creative with hair embellishments!

Bows

We know you’ve seen bows everywhere and there’s absolutely no sign of the momentum slowing down for autumn. Whether you’re wanting to add a bunch of little bows to your hair looks or you’re wanting to rock a half-up, half-down look with an oversized bow, autumn is the perfect season to have fun with bows.

If you’ve been wanting to try bows but you’re a sceptic, autumn is the time to throw caution to the wind and to really have fun with your look!

BIG volume

Sleek, slick looks have been all the rage for the past couple of months but it’s time to say hello to BIG volume for autumn. It’s time to embrace 60’s-esque volume for the autumn and winter months, think volume, think drama, think maximalism.

Unslick your bun and bust out your hot air styler to achieve maximum volume, the trend for hair this autumn is hair you definitely can’t fit under a beanie!

Fun buns

Autumn is all about having fun with your hair, and fun buns are going to be everywhere this season! Think buns with big curls, big messy buns on top of your head and using accessories to take your bun to the next level.

Adorn it with hair clips, fun scrunchies, ribbons or whatever else you can get your hands on and create a bun that’s totally unique to you! It’s all about having fun this season so bust out your curlers and crimpers and get to experimenting!
