In this first post, we sat down with VS Sassoon stylist Rob Reeves to give you the low down on how to go blonde. Here we go through what you should think about before going blonde and how to maintain your light locks.

- Or extensions that can take you from brunette to blonde without punishing chemicals (depending on the type).

“Think about it and discuss it with your hairdresser. If you have fine hair that breaks easily then consider extensions. They come with the added benefit of adding volume and length as well as colour. If your hair is thicker and can withstand a lot, then you could go the full bleach.
"Also ask your hairdresser for recommendations on how to take care of bleached blonde hair. It’s very important and usually involves regular deep treatments under heat.
Because of this, most women choose somewhere in the middle – AKA streaks or balayage – still very much on-trend despite having been around for decades now,” says Rob.
How To Maintain Blonde Locks & Highlights
To keep your blonde from fading and in optimum condition, you need to be using the best hair products. This keeps the colour from going brassy and to maintain health within the bonds of your hair. Bleaching can damage the hair bonds and make it dry, so make sure you invest in the right hair care products for your hair type.
Follow these tips below:
- Use a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner.
- Invest in a colour-lock product.
