Ok, so you’re ready to transform? Here it is, the ultimate VS Sassoon cheat sheet for creating lush, glossy curls with a straightener.

1. Prep Your Tresses

Start with dry hair.
Spritz on heat protector to keep your hair happy and healthy.
Section your hair: The key is to section the top, middle, and bottom and not to rush! If you find your styles at home never look as good as when your hairdresser does them, it’s more often than not down to your sectioning skills.

2. Choose the Correct Heat for Your Hair

We recommend starting on the lowest setting and adjusting from there.
All hair is different but for fine or damaged hair, try lower temperatures from 115°C to 150°C; normal hair can usually handle 150°C to 195°C and thick & coarse hair responds to temps from 195°C to 235°C.
As we said, all hair is unique, and these are general recommendations, so definitely take it slow and note how your hair responds.

3. The Very Easy to Master VS Sassoon Curl Technique

Take a smaller 2-3 cm section of hair at the bottom. Make sure the section is no wider than the plate of the straightener.
Brush through the section to ensure it is completely tangle-free.
Close to the roots, clamp the straightener facing upright.
Twist 360° away from your face.
Glide down the section s-l-o-w-l-y and p-a-t-i-e-n-t-l-y.
Twist again away from the face, making sure to keep the straightener facing upright.
Continue to glide down the section.
Twist for a 3rd time (depending on the length of your hair) as you glide down to the end of the section.
Release and twist with your finger to define the curl.
Let it cool.

Repeat, Repeat, Repeat

Repeat until you’ve curled each section of your hair.
