Tucked Under WaveVS Style - The Tucked Under Wave
"This water wave tucked under the nape look is so exciting because it’s retro and edgy at the same time. I was originally inspired by the hair at the Vivienne Westwood Show Autumn/Winter 2010 Paris but I’ve noticed that a few celebs have started to pick up on it. And why not? It’s fabulous and very now".
"Using the Academy Tools Straightener with SolTEC™ ceramic which is a new technology that means the straightening plates are 50% smoother and 20% harder than standard ceramic. It makes adding shine easy as the light refelcts off the smooth hair", Emiliano Vitale, eSalon, editorial and multi-award winning stylist.
Steps to creating this look at home:
- Wrap dry with the Academy Tools Dryer.
- Using fine sections, create the water-wave effect by taking one section of your hair and insert the straightener.
- Slide the straightener along the section but this time twist and slide 180 degrees one way, creating a 'C' shape, then continue sliding the straightener down the hair while turning it 180 degrees the other way, creating another 'C' shape in the opposite direction. The wave will be closer together or further apart depending on the frequency of the turns.
- Continue down the length of the section, then repeat this technique on all the other sections until all of your hair has been wave curled.
- Now pull the hair into a loose ponytail at the nape and tuck it under, securing with pins. Fine hair pins are best but bobby pins will also work.
- Finish by pulling out or tucking in loose strands as you desire. There you go! Easy and very, very beautiful.
"I think as a stylist one of my jobs is not just to create and interpret but also to educate. I love teaching people how to create a strong fashion look at home".
"No one should ever be intimidated about going for a look they love. Most of the time, it’s just about following the steps and having the right tools".
