Big Hair Styler Step-by-step for Long Bob with waves

VS Style - LOB (Long Bob)

LOB or long bobCreated by Emiliano Vitale, VS Sassoon Australia/NZ hair style consultant, using the Big Hair Styler and finished with a current soft texture.

"The LOB is very popular because this length of hair, falling just on the shoulders, allows plenty of versatility to change the way you wear your hair. This VS style was inspired by the soft textured, full looks currently seen on the London, Paris, Milan and New York catwalks and is reflected in the the red carpet hairstyles worn by celebrities like the ever fashion-conscious Scarlett Johansson at the Oscars, Florence Welch, Olivia Munn and Jennifer Aniston".

How to get this VS style

  1. Shampoo and condition your hair and apply a little mousse, which we recommend as the best styling product to achieve and support this look. Before you begin to style your hair, pre-dry it to about 80% dry. This makes styling quicker and easier as the hair does not take on any shape until this stage.
  2. Separate your hair into 4 easy to work sections (2 front, 2 back). If you use your finger to section the parting or top of the 2 front sections, you will create a more natural 'raw' or soft parting line that will complement the finish of this style. Secure sections with clips.
  3. Split each section into 2 to 4 sections for styling, depending on how much hair you have. Starting from the bottom of each section, place the Big Hair Styler into the ends of the hair and start to rotate the brush, ensuring the brush is rotating away from you. This will cause the bristles to hold onto your hair. Resisting the rotation, allow the ends of your hair to curl around the brush, creating a full open curl in the ends.
  4. On the next section above the one you just styled, the aim is to create extra volume at the root. Push the rotation button and test that the brush is rotating away from you before putting the Styler into the hair.  Release the rotation button and then place the Big Hair Styler in at the roots of the hair and drape the hair over the brush while holding onto the ends of the hair with the other hand. Press the rotation button and move the brush through the hair, lifting it up and out to build as much lift and volume as you can. Remember to resist the rotation of the brush by holding the brush with tension. Continue alternating between these methods of styling detailed in points 3 and 4 through all of your hair.
  5. Finally, style the front section of your hair diagonally across your eye keeping it flat. To do this position the Big Hair Styler beneath this section of hair and allow it to be pulled by the rotation of the styler so that it ends up in place diagonally across one eye. Finish with a little hairspray to hold and separate.
